September Newsletter

September Newsletter
Well that’s the summer holidays ended for some of us, and I have just been reading that for mums September is the “new” January, as it can be a time to reassess, so make sure you read the article on balance, further on in the newsletter.
Lots of us are now getting back into regular routines after the summer, and I am still finding that my fitness is getting better and better. I am so lucky in that I do a job I love, what can be better than dancing around and keeping fit for a living. I get to play music I love and sadly I have been singing along to some of the class soundtracks-sorry 
Gymnastics vs adult fitness – I have been thinking as to why my gymnasts are so successful and what we can learn from this. Pretty much it’s that we all need determination and commitment to achieve our goals. Along with a damn good coach who knows how to get results. I know I can do for you what I do for my gymnasts, no, not fly across to floor and do amazing skills, but I CAN help you achieve your fitness goals, and change the way you move, look and feel about your body. All it takes is your commitment 
Client of the Month – Is the amazing Pam Rivers, over the summer Pam has attended both the Wed evening body toning class and the Thursday Step and Sculpt class. I have seen superb changes in Pam’s fitness levels and am proud to have been able to help her feel great about her fitness classes. Her positivity as brilliant
Class of the Month – for August is my Monday morning class, who have rocked up whatever the weather and always been up for a good workout. This class has really found out that you can dance the calories away and we have had great fun with the new cd’s I am using
Clothes bags –many thanks to all of you who bought bags of clothes in, for the sports aid collection. We raised over £190 for the club, and the guy who collected them, was none too shabby to look at either. (or I am being shallow  )
Book Sale –after the tremendous response to the gym clubs book sale, we are holding another one on 19th November. Please bring along any good quality books. I am also running a “wish list” if you want a certain book, make sure I know and I will hunt it out in advance.
Christmas party – Time is running out to get your deposit in for this, £10, asap. Its at the Commodore in Sandbay, and looks like being a great night again 
Increase in fees – finally I have increased my fees to £4.00 for every class, as I know I am worth it. We still offer £10 for as many as you can do in a week, or £30 for 10 classes.
Cancelled class – Due to the British Championships there will be NO classes Friday 23rd September, or the saturday gymnastics. Good luck to all my gymnasts taking part. Fingers crossed we have another successful competition.
Move of the month – its a toughie! But will soon see you with fantastic arms and hopefully more support for your bust. Happily I know that within the month you WILL be making it easy. I am really working hard to make sure that you get the best out of this exercise to get rid of any bingo wings that might be starting to arrive, and the bonus will be better boobs!
AFTERBURN
More research has come to light about the amount of calories burnt after a strenuous workout. For up to 14 hours after your workout you will keep burning calories. Burning up to 200 extra calories.
The workout does have to get you hot, sweaty and breathing harder for this to happen though. So our latino fitness, and step classes are perfect for this to happen.
Lets do the maths – we burn on average 400 calories in each of these classes, add on the other 200, afterburn, and we are looking at 600 calories gone for an hours session.
According to the researchers "That means a person would lose one pound after five intense exercise bouts if they resisted the temptation to eat more,This shows that intense exercise can have a meaningful impact on your body fat stores if you don't counter it with an extra piece of cake.”

Balance

What have you done today, just for you? Have you read a book? Gone for a walk? Had a long soak in the bath? Have you switched off at all from the responsibilities of parenting or work? If not - why not?

The phrase work-life balance has become a cliché, but that doesn't mean there is no truth in it. Looking after yourself, so you are fit to look after other people is essential. But too many of us put our own needs at the bottom of the list.

If this seems all too familiar try this:

• Make a list of what you enjoy doing, what you like to do to re-charge your batteries, and what you would do if only you had the time.

• Take a long, hard look at all the commitments you have and see if you can ditch just one of them - or more! You are not indispensable.

• Make a commitment to take some time out for yourself - it might be an hour a day or an hour a week. But do it. And write it in your diary or on the calendar. Stick with it as if it were a meeting with someone else.
